I stopped trying to be balanced.

I used to think I needed more balance. I don't. I need contrast.

I used to think I needed more balance. I don’t. I need contrast.

Balance is a metronome. It moves fast, it always wants the middle, and it keeps you stressed because every day becomes a negotiation. Should I work out today? Should I have a drink? Should I take the morning off? Win that argument every day and you’ve already spent the energy you needed for the actual work.

Contrast is bigger swings. Three months of doing the hard things on purpose. One month of doing whatever the hell you want. Decide it once. Stop arguing with yourself.

Solo episode. I got into:

  • Three weeks I barely recovered from. The first Scan, Lisbon, a two-day alignment workshop, Boldhouse Creative Summit

  • Why “alignment” was the only thing on the table when I put eight founders in a room

  • Why planning a flight an hour after a workshop is something I’ll keep doing wrong

  • The metronome trap. Why trying to be balanced makes you more stressed, not less

  • 75 Hard, my version. Bulk-then-cut, e-ink phone after work, hard 4pm stop, no negotiating

  • Overcompensate to compensate. If you want a big change, make a lot of changes and see what sticks

We’re five days into the next 75 Hard. If you want to start a hard season with someone, reply and tell me what you’d put on your list. I’ll find you a partner in crime.

Listen on Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts.
